Introductory American Sign Language
Start learning American Sign Language online with Lakeland College.
Whether you are adding to your professional or personal skills, try our introductory ASL courses: ASL 101 level 1 part A and ASL 102 level 1 part B.
These courses are part of our American Sign Language and Deaf Culture Studies certificate program.
ASL 101 American Sign Language Level 1 Part A |

ASL 101 American Sign Language Level 1 Part A is an introductory course to both American Sign Language (ASL) and deaf culture. You'll learn how have basic conversations, as well as appropriate behaviour when interacting within the deaf culture. This is the prerequisite for ASL 102 Level 1, Part B. This continues what was started in ASL 101. Uses the same textbook. |

In this course, students are introduced to American Sign Language (ASL), its culture, and to the community of Deaf persons who use this language. Students learn how to have basic conversations as well as use appropriate behaviours within the Deaf Community. Prerequisite: ASL 101 | |

Saskatchewan ECE I Certification courses
Earn your Saskatchewan Early Child Educator (ECE) I certification through Lakeland College.
This first level of certification is required to work 65 hours or more per month at a child care centre.
Three courses, or nine credits, are required. Courses must include topics related to child development, programming and relationships.
Registrants must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada.

Community Mental Health courses
Take courses in Community Mental Health to expand your knowledge or work towards a certificate. Specialized studies build on your Level 3 ECE and are eligible for Professional Development Grant funding from the Alberta government.
