This program requires 30 post-secondary credits for admission. It isn't available to anyone straight out of high school.

1. A minimum of 30 post-secondary credits from a public, accredited institution

2. Proof of English language proficiency

Direct entry

You qualify for direct entry if your credits are in a human services or wellness of people related field. This includes any previous animal wellness credits.

Indirect entry

If your credits are from a science background, we recommend you take a course or courses first.

After you've been accepted into the program, you must also meet these program requirements.

Clinical experience requirements

Students must be in good standing with a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 to be eligible for their clinical experience placement.
Students must be in good health, highly motivated, emotionally mature and stable. A high degree of tolerance and respect for the rights of others is required.
Students are responsible for meeting all requirements set out by the agencies. This includes immunization, criminal record checks, or vulnerable sector checks before the clinical experience starts.

Course enrolment

Enrolment is the final step after you've been accepted.

You will self-register in your courses.
You can expect an email from the Office of the Registrar beginning one week before registration opens. It will include instructions on how to self-register and pay tuition using My Lakeland.

Recognition of prior learning

If you completed relevant courses at another post-secondary institution, you may be eligible for transfer credit. Apply for transfer credit at least 2 months before classes start by completing the transfer credit form.

Graduation requirements

When you complete the program requirements with a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.00, you will be awarded an Animal Assisted Wellness certificate.
