Educational Assistant Admissions and Graduation Requirements

Admission requirements

High school diploma with a:

• minimum 50% in English 30-1
• or 65% in English 30-2

If you didn’t graduate from an Alberta high school, please refer to the English provincial subject equivalencies. 

If you graduated in Quebec with  a Secondary School Diploma (DES), you must complete Language of Instruction from Secondary V.

If you don’t meet the admission requirements, please refer to special admissions.

Field Placement Requirements

• A criminal record check (with a vulnerable sector check) is required and is requested through the RCMP in your hometown. Based on the information received, students may be denied entrance into the program. The cost of a criminal record check varies among detachments.
• An Intervention Record Check (IRC) may also be required.

Graduation requirements

When you complete the requirements with a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.0, you will be awarded an Educational Assistant Certificate.
