Acreage Owner Pesticide Program
Welcome to the Rural Acreage Owner Restricted Pesticide Certification Program (RAORCP).
Its goal is to train acreage owners how to control noxious and prohibited noxious weeds on their land.
If you live in a participating municipality, you can be certified to apply pesticides. You'll take a course and learn:
- more about herbicide options
- skills to apply herbicides provided by your municipality
After you're certified, you'll work with your municipality to control noxious weeds on your property.
If you have questions about getting rid of noxious or prohibited noxious weeds, contact your municipality's agricultural fieldman.
How the Rural Acreage Owner Restricted Pesticide Certification Program works |
This program's goal is to train acreage owners how to control noxious and prohibited noxious weeds on their land. It's a cooperative effort between the land owners and their local municipality.
|
Either you or a weed inspector identifies a noxious or prohibited noxious weed on your acreage |
You may be contacted by a weed inspector about noxious or prohibited noxious weeds growing in a pasture or non-turf area of your acreage. Or, you may have discovered the weed yourself. |
Work with your municipality |
The following municipalities are part of the program. If a weed inspector hasn't contacted you, please contact your municipality about the program.
If you municipality isn’t on this list, then you aren’t eligible for the program.
|
After confirming eligibility, take the online pesticide applicator certificate course |
Your course is through the Lakeland College's pesticide certification office. This is the same office that manages the commercial pesticide applicator certification program. Check out how to register and take a pesticide applicator course. |
Pass your course and get your certificate |
Take your certificate to your agricultural fieldman. Your fieldman will again confirm you live in a rural area as well as the size of your property and areas in pasture, turf and non-turf. The next step will be to get the appropriate pesticide and apply it on your land. |
