Power Engineering Continuing Education
Lakeland offers a number of power engineering programs as well as courses associated with power engineering.
If you need to brush up on math and physics skills before or while you take power engineering, we have a 3 month online course.
If you need to brush up on thermodynamics, we have a 4 month online course.
If you're taking our online 4th class program and need steam time hours, you can earn accredited hours in our public 4th class steam lab on the Lloydminster campus.
If you already are a certified 4th class power engineer, you can take the 3rd class exams through our online program. And if you want to go further, we also offer an online 2nd class program. You'll earn a certificate and be ready to write the Alberta Boiler Safety Association certification exams.
About Power Engineering |
Power engineering isn’t an apprenticeship trade but is divided into levels of skill and training. These levels are referred to as classes, starting with 4th class power engineering and working up to a 1st class certification. You progress from each class through work experience, completing courses and pass an interprovincial exam. You must be certified in the previous class before you can start on the next one. Both 3rd Class and 2nd Class power engineers are currently in high demand. |
