You are eligible to write the 1st year Alberta Apprenticeship first year electrician exam if:
- you have minimum 65% standing in program requirements
- 90% or better attendance record
If you want to be a journeyperson electrician, you'll have 3 more apprenticeship technical training periods (classroom instruction) as well as the minimum on-the-job hours. All your classroom training can be taken at Lakeland College. See the electrical apprentice pages.
Once you've been a journeyperson for 3 years, you can become a Master Electrician. Lakeland offers a certification course to prepare you for the exam.
Or, if you have a valid Alberta Journeyperson certificate, you can also work toward blue and red seals.
