Electric training is for you if you have an aptitude for math, mechanical ability and manual dexterity.
Electricians install, alter, repair and maintain electrical systems. Those systems are designed to provide heat, light, power, control, signal or fire alarms for all types of buildings.
- electrical theory and fundamentals
- the Canadian Electrical Code
- heating and cooling systems
- transformers
- three phase principles
- circuit fundamentals plus RLC, magnetic control and switching circuits
- fire alarm systems
Your apprenticeship is 4 years. In years 1 - 3, you have:
- 8 weeks of classroom instruction at the college
- a minimum of 1,560 hours of on-the-job training
Your final training period is 12 weeks with 1,440 hours of on-the-job training.
At Lakeland your main classrooms are our electrical labs.
