Becoming a licensed pharmacist in Canada is more than completing a degree.
- The program must be accredited.
- You must pass the Pharmacy Examining Board of Canada’s exam.
- You must complete practical experience through an internship program.
You can’t get into a pharmacy program right out of high school. A pre-professional degree is now required before you can apply to a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) program.
Whether you come from Lakeland, or from inside the particular university, you will go through a competitive admission process.
There are a limited number of seats at each university. If you don’t get in the first time you apply, you should try again.
For more information about requirements, check the university websites.
- You must also meet all the admission requirements of the degree-granting institution. This may include appropriate high school courses and averages.
- Admission is competitive. There may be quotas for number of students admitted to the degree program at the receiving institution.
- Some receiving institutions specify a minimum grade for transfer credit.
- If you change a program or receiving institution, be aware that there may not be room in the new program.
