Lakeland College is actively planning for the fall term and exploring program delivery options while monitoring the COVID-19 situation.
As Lakeland's academic schools and senior leadership team evaluate each delivery option and prepare for the start of the 2020-21 academic year, they are doing so with guidance and direction from the Ministry of Advanced Education and Alberta Health Services (AHS).
To ensure students, faculty and staff can continue to plan for the upcoming year,
Lakeland will finalize its fall delivery plans by mid-June and will communicate directly
with admitted and returning students.
“Our priorities are twofold: the health and safety of our students, faculty and staff, and our commitment to providing an award-winning education to our students,” says Dr. Alice Wainwright-Stewart, president and CEO of Lakeland College. “Our fall semester may not look the same as previous academic years, but our high-quality programs will remain.”
Lakeland is working hard to provide in-person, on-campus instruction that will support
the delivery of essential hands-on learning activities, including labs, field work,
student-managed farm experiences and more. These activities may be supported by instructor-led
activities that take place online using the college's learning management system,
as required by AHS guidelines.
“Our students' goals are not on hold. We are committed to providing options for them to start or continue their education, graduate and grow as leaders throughout the 2020-21 academic year,” says Wainwright-Stewart. “We are striving to ensure every student continues to benefit from our industry-driven programs, support services and student-managed learning model. I thank everyone for their patience as we finalize our plans and work through these changing conditions.”
New protocols related to physical distancing, cleaning and disinfecting, and more are being developed to protect the health and safety of the Lakeland community.
Lakeland's final fall delivery plans will be available on our COVID 19 information page, among other updates as they become available.

Lakeland's summer activities
Though public access to our campuses is restricted to help prevent the spread of COVID-19, they do remain open to students remaining in residence. Our Commons and Residence teams continue to work on-site while practicing physical distancing and other safety measures to provide essential support to these students.
Our facilities, farm and research teams are continuing to care for our buildings, animals, and crops as we continue our important summer work.
Based on the information available at this time, Lakeland will proceed with a blended offering of firefighting training in late July.
