Lakeland College is excited to invite future students and community members to its virtual Open House.
Scheduled for Oct. 22 and 23, this virtual event offers prospective students and community
members the opportunity to connect with students and instructors in live sessions.
Virtual tours will be hosted by students and faculty, demonstrating how Lakeland’s
hands-on approach to education delivers real-world results. There will also be on-demand
videos and other resources for participants to access.
“We have more than 50 programs to feature,” says Courtney King, recruitment and enrolment supervisor. “But Open House is also an opportunity to explore our supportive campus communities on both our Lloydminster and Vermilion campuses. It’s also a chance to learn about student support services and financial aid in a fun, supportive and accessible way.”
Participants have the flexibility to take in a few sessions or spend the whole day exploring Lakeland from the comfort of home. Sessions will focus on Lakeland’s 50-plus programs, including agricultural sciences, environmental sciences, health and wellness, human services, trades and technology, energy, fire and emergency services, business and university transfer.
Sessions will also be available for parents and students to learn about student supports for academic, financial, mental and physical health. Each session a student attends during Open House gives them one more entry into a draw for multiple prizes, including Apple Watches and AirPods, flexibility to take in a few sessions or spend the whole day exploring Lakeland from the comfort of home. Sessions will focus on Lakeland’s 50-plus programs, including agricultural sciences, environmental sciences, health and wellness, human services, trades and technology, energy, fire and emergency services, business and university transfer.
Prospective students can also apply for free online with a promo code during Open House. Lakeland’s admissions and enrolment teams will provide support throughout the event through a virtual help desk for general inquiries and applications.
Lakeland’s virtual Open House 2021 follows the success of Open House 2020. It was Lakeland’s first virtual Open House and more than 520 students RSVPed. Participants participated virtually from 26 different countries and 390 free applications were completed.
“Rather than feel constrained by the limits of a virtual Open House last year, we took it as an opportunity to use the creativity and innovation that Lakeland is known for to present an engaging, immersive experience that was accessible to all prospective students, no matter their location,” says King. “We featured more than 60 live, interactive virtual sessions and offered on-demand videos, and had such amazing, positive feedback in the end. We are excited to build on that success this year.
“We encourage you to RSVP to Open House 2021 to see how Lakeland’s hands-on approach to education prepares you for the future.”
