Hairstylists, make-up artists, professional barbers, high school students and apprentices are invited to showcase their beauty-related skills at the first annual Border Beauty Showcase presented by Lakeland College on March 25.
“The Border Beauty Showcase is an opportunity for makeup, barbering and hairstyling
artists to show off the technical skills, creativity and hard work that are so critical
to finding success in this industry,” says Deb Minish, chair of the School of Health
and Wellness at Lakeland College. “It will bring together established experts in the
field, as well as future stars who are passionate about pushing the boundaries of
traditional hairstyling.”
Starting at 2 p.m. on the Lloydminster campus, the competition will be emceed by Heather Klages and will host the following categories:
- live barbering
- high school updo and make-up
- avant-garde for individual or groups of stylists and artists.
Registration for the barbering or avant-garde categories is $25, while high school students can compete for free. There will also be a trade show, which begins at 1 p.m. Registration forms and fees are due March 15.
