Rustlers logo with RUSTLERMANIA underneathRustlermania is back in full force at Lakeland College as student-athletes welcome their competition to campus for conference championships, battle for gold on the court and on the ice, and host their rivals in the rodeo arena in the next two weeks.

“We are so proud of all our student athletes,” says Alan Rogan, athletics director at Lakeland College. “Having many of our teams qualify for the championships and being successful is a true testament to their dedication to their sport and pride in Lakeland. It is an extremely busy but exciting and rewarding time of year.”

Braiden Bach, coordinator of the rodeo club and arena, says, “Back-to-back rodeos for the Rustlers rodeo team are an opportunity to showcase our athletes’ hard work and winning attitudes in our home dirt at the Equine Centre. We’re excited to host our long-standing rivals and friends, the Olds College Broncos, on our home turf.”

Men’s Basketball Conference championship

The Rustlers Men’s Basketball team hosts the conference championship this weekend on Lloydminster campus. The Rustlers’ first game will be Thursday, March 5 at 8 p.m. Catch the action in person at the campus gym or at gorustlers.ca. Students with a valid Lakeland ID get into the games for free!

Rustlers rodeo weekends

On March 7 and 8, Lakeland’s rodeo team will host the Olds College Broncos Spring Rodeo at the Equine Centre on Vermilion Campus before hitting the home dirt again March 14 and 15 for the Canadian College Association’s flagship rodeo, Little Royal.

Women’s volleyball goes to nationals

This past weekend, the Rustlers Women’s Volleyball team won their fourth consecutive conference (ACAC) gold and they are moving on to defend their title as national champs! Nationals are March 10-14 in Niverville, Man. The first game will be at 6 p.m. CST, Wednesday, March 11. Watch at ccaa.ca.

Women’s hockey going for gold

The Rustlers Women’s Hockey team hits the ice to defend their conference gold against Red Deer Polytech this weekend. The best-of-five competition kicks off with first puck drop at the Cenovus Energy Hub on March 6 at 7:15 p.m. Watch at acac.ab.ca.

Futsal teams heading to Medicine Hat

Men’s and Women’s Futsal teams will compete in the ACAC championships March 20-22 at Medicine Hat College. Stay up-to-date at acac.ab.ca
