Lakeland College will host the ninth annual Feast on the Farm, presented by Cenovus Energy, on Aug. 13, 2026. The signature fundraising event supports student-led learning - an integral part of Lakeland’s award-winning education experience.

Held outdoors at the college’s Research Centre at the Vermilion campus, the evening is reminiscent of meals in the field during harvest. Swapping tailgates for a tent, guests will enjoy a dinner, Lakeland alumni/student panel, silent auction and live entertainment under the prairie sky. This year’s musical guest is Cole Martin, whose music combines country music songwriting with banjo, pedal steel, fiddle and melodic vocals.

“Feast on the Farm fuels student-led learning at Lakeland, expanding opportunities for real-world skill development and application. This gives our students the ability to transfer from classrooms and labs to their career successfully,” says Dr. Alice Wainwright-Stewart, president and CEO of Lakeland. “We look forward each year to connecting at this special event, sharing the meaningful impact their support has with our students, both on campus and in our communities.

Since 2016, the event has raised funds to support nearly 40 student-led projects across all Lakeland programs. Examples of recent projects funded through Feast on the Farm include:

  • Apprentice Logan Peters competing in WorldSkills in China
  • Indigenous storytelling community garden project
  • Chamber Connects and student-led tax clinics
  • Interior design studio tour in Calgary
  • Agricultural sciences lab safety platforms
  • Environmental sciences field software and range competition
  • Border Beauty Showcase and Campus Spa iPads
  • Big Cook and student Christmas hampers
  • Teaching trip to Ensenada, Mexico

Now in its fifth year as presenting sponsor, Cenovus Energy continues to play an integral role in supporting student success at Lakeland.

“Supporting Lakeland College’s Feast on the Farm reflects our commitment to helping prepare students for careers in various industries across the region. By investing in education and student success, we’re helping contribute to the long-term economic success and resiliency of a key community where we operate,” says Dan Rusnell, Director, Lloydminster Upgrader Complex, Cenovus Energy.
