In an industry as wide-ranging as agriculture, it's impossible for today's producer to be an expert in everything.

This January, crop technology students gained access to a unique knowledge network during a presentation about the digital platform AGvisorPRO.

For Sydney Walls, the presentation was an exciting one that offered many possibilities for her future ag career. The platform allows ag producers to connect with each other, giving them access to generations of knowledge through video chats with experts in all fields of agriculture.

“It's a really cool platform,” Walls says, who is the communications manager for the Student-Managed Farm - Powered by New Holland crop unit. “It's for all producers, whether they have tons of knowledge or none at all. You can video chat with people from all over North America with all different kinds of knowledge on all types of agriculture, from bee keeping to financiers and everything else. I think it will be very beneficial, especially for people just starting out, like me.”

Patrick Walther, co-founder of AGvisorPRO, appreciated the opportunity to present to students, who represent future generations of agricultural producers.

“There is no way for a producer to be an expert on all different areas,” he says. “This platform really helps leverage the knowledge other experts have acquired, and they are there to help you get better. It's such a great fit for students.”

The presentation also opened Walls' eyes to other agricultural-related careers in the future, after she has developed some expertise of her own to share with newer generations.

“It opens up doors to be able to work from both sides,” she explains. “Both when you're starting out and later, when you have knowledge to share. You can help people and this presentation showed the different opportunities out there to share your knowledge too.”

Walther gave the students 450 credits to try out the platform, which is about 10 sessions to reach out to experts in the agriculture industry.
