NKBA Affiliation
Lakeland College was the first Canadian post-secondary institution accredited by the National Kitchen and Bath Association (NKBA). For many years it was the only Canadian school.
Now we have NKBA founding member status, one of only 32 schools with that accreditation in North America. Current there are 139 NKABA accredited post-secondary institutions.
Lakeland first earned full NKBA accreditation in 2000. This means Lakeland’s kitchen and bath curriculum met the educational standards established by the NKBA.
As well, the NKBA had an Excellence in Education Award. Programs with an average score of 90 or better received it. Lakeland College has earned this distinction 7 times. More recently we were named the 2019 NKBA College of the Year, two years after receiving that distinction for the first time. The NKBA has since discontinued these awards.
As well, NKBA student competitions have showcased both Lakeland’s program and students.
Lakeland currently has had students succeed in those competitions for 17 consecutive years.
Since 2004 Lakeland students have been recognized with at least an honorable mention in a variety of NKBA sponsored student competitions.
Along the way many others have won top prizes. See the list of winning designers.
