We support students by providing academic resources and connecting them to services.

Some of those resources and services look like this:

  • coordinating after-hours study sessions, where students can engage
  • serving as a liaison for students when meeting with deans and academic advisors
  • helping build essential skills, such as learning PowerPoint and proper essay formatting
  • assisting with projects and presentations, including co-hosting events or providing culturally significant items.

Check the dropdowns below for more academic supports.

We can help you access Lakeland's Learning Commons. The Learning Commons offers a number of free services to all students:

  • Peer tutors - You are eligible for 16 hours of free peer tutoring each semester (8 hours per course, up to 2 courses) with the Nimbus app.
  • Learner success services - Access to learning strategies and resources for topics like study skills and exam anxiety.
  • Libraries - each campus has a library with staff to assist you with research. You have access Hoopla and a wide network of academic resources.
  • Accessibility - Students with documented disabilities are provided accommodations, resources and support to achieve academic success.
  • Grammarly - Free to use with your edu email address. Use it to check spelling, grammar and other parts of essays and papers.

Lakeland College has built relationships with Indigenous communities and people to expand educational opportunities.

  • We host on-campus exposure events to introduce potential Indigenous students to our facilities, programs and services.
  • We collaborate with Indigenous communities to bring courses and programs directly to them. Examples include digital literacy, administrative support and early learning education.
