Frequently Asked Questions

The program has its own dedicated room of sample materials, flooring, fabric, wood, tiles and more. These are all donations coming directly from our industry, and typically from past graduates who know exactly what you need.

In your first year, you'll travel for a one-night stay to either Calgary or Edmonton to tour industry showrooms. In 2nd year, you travel to Toronto, Ontario for a week of showrooms, a trade show, museums, galleries and offsite exhibits. You are responsible for all transportation, meals and entrance fees such as admission to the trade show or museums. Typically the class fundraises to help the those expenses.

You'll have a mandatory 8-week practicum. ID450 Interior Design Practicum is your final course. It starts after classes and exams, usually ends in early May. It must be completed to graduate. Placements are coordinated between you and an instructor.

The National Kitchen & Bath Association is not-for-profit trade association that represents the kitchen and bath industry across North America. Lakeland offers a fully accredited NKBA program and we are chartered as a 'founding member'. This status grants our students free NKBA student memberships to begin networking in the industry.

There are drafting and graphics kits available for purchase through our bookstore in addition to textbook requirements. A short list of other suggested items are available on our website.

We recommend a PC based laptop with specific system requirements so you can work with current versions of the software we use. Requirements are sent out with acceptance letters as they are updated each year.
