Hosting a co-op placement

As an employer, bringing in an business co-op program student helps you. You'll benefit from:

Support we provide

The Lakeland business co-op internship committee oversees all placements and assists both students and employers.

  • We prepare all candidates with pre-employment workshops.
  • We consult employers in monitoring and evaluation procedures.
  • The placement coordinator visits all internship locations.

You select the candidate to interview. You're not obligated to accept any of the candidates you interview.

What's required from employers

Our first priority is the welfare of our students. We require employers to ensure:

  • a physically safe working environment
  • appropriate management devoid of bullying or abuse

The business co-op’s goal is to provide students a working professional insight. This is achieved by:

  • providing a suitable role with real work responsibilities
  • setting up a mentoring system and evaluating student performance
  • orienting the student to the bigger picture
