If you're interested in another university, we don't recommend starting a nursing degree at Lakeland. Most nursing programs are direct entry. This is because most programs offer courses such as psychology for nurses and not just a psychology course. While transfers may be possible, you likely wouldn't receive credit for an entire year.

Nursing degree programs in Canada are usually 4 years and include theory and clinical instruction in medical and surgical nursing. Graduates are able to obtain a registered nurse licence. Their are provincial colleges across Canada. Learning more about the registered nurse profession in Alberta.

RNs may go on to specialize in a specific area such as community health, critical care, emergency and occupational health. With further education, you may become a nurse practitioner.
