This 12-hour course runs every Saturday (excluding long weekends) from 7 am - 7 pm.
Alberta students will learn theory in the morning, with practical training and testing to follow. When successful you'll have a Q added to your license.
Course length: 1 day
Total hours: 12 hours
Cost: $275
Delivery: on-site; Lakeland College, County Energy Park

Lakeland College reserves the right to cancel courses if enrolment is too low.
Refund policy: 100% refund if you withdraw 2 full working days before your start date. No refund if you withdraw later than that. Appointments can be rescheduled at an additional cost of $150/hr.
Air Brake Endorsement (Q) is a mandatory part of getting Alberta Class 1, Class 3 or any air equipped motor vehicle (such as a motorhome) licence.
Alberta also requires:
- commercial medical exam (fee may apply)
- learner's permit (purchased at Alberta registries office)
- cost for Alberta road test
When you successfully complete the practical, you will receive a completion form for Alberta registries, allowing you to take the written (computer version) test.
For more information about licensing, visit the Alberta Transportation's Air Brake program website.
Saskatchewan also requires an air brake endorsement. There is also a written and practical test. Both are done through your local licensing office.
Saskatchewan also requires:
- commercial medical exam (fee may apply)
- cost for Saskatchewan road test
While Saskatchewan students are welcome to attend, the practicum testing is not applicable. However, our course gives you an opportunity to learn from an instructor and practice.
For more information about Saskatchewan requirements, please check the SGI air brake webpage.
Both can be done through your local SGI office.
