Our process and power engineering diploma allows you to earn a 4th class & 3rd class in 2 years.

Your first year includes:

  • 4th class instruction
  • 100 hours of lab work
  • 1.5 month/240 hour practicum

 Then,  you'll be ready to write 2 ABSA provincial exams.

Second year begins with a 3-month/480-hour practicum, preparing you to learn 3rd class theory and write 4 ABSA provincial exams.

Power engineering is all about safely operating and maintaining boilers, turbines and engines. Your future job prospects aren't limited to the oil sector. You could work in:

  • power generation
  • chemical plants
  • hospital and institutional power plants

When you finish our program, you can write ABSA's certification exam and begin your career.

Remember that studying includes other expenses than tuition and fees - you should also be budgeting for your accommodation and living expenses. Alberta student loan guidelines recommends $1,865/month.

Minimum number of students for any elective is 10. You will be notified if the minimum number is not reached in your specific course choice.

Your class schedule, or when your courses are held during the week, can be found on your My Lakeland student portal when available. Usually, one month before your program starts.

Earn a degree, think management

Take your Process and Power Engineering diploma to NAIT and earn a Bachelor of Technology degree. The program sets you up for take on a management role.

Graduates must meet the competitive admission and selection requirements of the BTech program at the time of application.
